Supporting the community

At Les Cotils, we are more than just a venue; we are a charity deeply rooted in the community. Our core values and ethos reflect a shared belief in being a valuable resource for those around us, and we take pride in our ongoing contribution to community well-being.

Community work

Through our developments and dedication at Les Cotils, we have been able to grow and expand our services. Our involvement in the community spans numerous projects, each aimed at making a meaningful difference. From educational programs to social initiatives, our efforts are driven by a commitment to uplift and empower those we serve.

This project has evolved into a cornerstone of our community efforts, symbolising our commitment to nourishment and care. In 2023, our commitment blossomed through ten heartwarming events. These included a joyous coronation party, delightful picnics in our lush grounds accompanied by engaging activities, cozy suppers in the coffee shop, and a warm, festive Boxing Day lunch.

The Peace Garden, opened in June 2022, is envisioned as a serene oasis and serves as a sanctuary for individuals recovering from physical or mental challenges, including those with autism and dementia. Not only is the garden a celebrated feature in the Floral Guernsey’s Open Garden scheme, but it has also been esteemed as an island place of interest.

Our supported employment scheme offers a special opportunity to the community, thriving in its mission to give meaningful employment to those who often face challenges in securing jobs elsewhere. With a nurturing and supportive atmosphere, we not only provide employment but also foster an environment where confidence can blossom and personal growth is encouraged through ongoing development and training opportunities.

The Community Service Scheme is run out of the Probation Service and as one of their beneficiaries, Les Cotils benefits hugely from the work they do. The team plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the beauty of our outdoor spaces, including the serene woodland walk and the vibrant pollinator patch. This scheme not only supports Les Cotils in its mission but also enriches the community experience by nurturing these cherished natural spaces.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supports Les Cotils, as their engagement allows us to give back to our local community.

Friends of Les Cotils

The Friends of Les Cotils play an integral role. They are instrumental in promoting a spirit of community through prayer and outreach initiatives at the Centre. Their contributions provide additional amenities and enrich the experience of everyone who uses the Centre.

Our aim

The aim is to create a wide circle of Friends within Guernsey and the other islands of the Bailiwick, in the United Kingdom and overseas. As the circle grows so the facilities offered by Les Cotils will become more widely known. Various social events are organised throughout the year, including monthly lunches with a guest speaker. These events are open to Friends and members of the public.

Sponsors & donors

Our connection with the community is the cornerstone of our success at Les Cotils. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the remarkable individuals and businesses whose generosity fuels our mission. Their dedication of time and resources has been pivotal in transforming our vision into reality, and we are deeply thankful for their unwavering support.

Together, we continue to build a stronger, more vibrant community. We look forward to what we can achieve with our continued partnerships.
